Florida Minimum Wage Increases to $14.00 on September 30, 2025

Effective September 30, 2025, Florida’s minimum wage has officially increased to $14.00 per hour, with tipped employees now entitled to at least $10.98 per hour in direct wages, plus tips.

This increase is part of the constitutional amendment approved by Florida voters in 2020, which requires annual $1.00 increases to the state’s minimum wage until it reaches $15.00 per hour on September 30, 2026. Starting in 2027, Florida’s minimum wage will adjust annually based on inflation.

Employee Rights Under Florida Law

Florida law protects workers from retaliation for exercising their right to the minimum wage. Employees may:

  • File complaints about an employer’s noncompliance.

  • Share information about wage violations.

  • Assist others in asserting their rights.

Employees who are not paid the lawful minimum wage can pursue back wages, damages, and attorney’s fees in civil court. Employers who intentionally violate wage laws may face fines of $1,000 per violation.

What This Means for Florida Workers and Employers

  • Workers: You’re guaranteed at least $14.00/hour, or $10.98/hour if tipped.

  • Employers: Ensure compliance to avoid fines, lawsuits, and reputational risks.

The bottom line: Florida’s minimum wage is on track to reach $15.00 in just one year. Now is the time for both employers and employees to understand their rights and obligations.
